INVISIBLE CITIES is a novel published by Italo Calvino in 1972. His remarkable prose poems tell of 55 cities supposedly visited by Marco Polo, as described to Kublai Khan. Each city is described as a fanciful parable; an existential meditation. It is organized according to 11 categories (5 cities in each) addressing issues such as memory, desire and death.
Over the course of three years, an audio/visual piece was created for each of the Cities (2018-2021). The project was curated by David Graves, who collaborated with an international consortium of more than 30 artists.
